Lauren is the third daughter of a pretty typical southern family. She also has a bratty little brother who is constantly teaching Lauren all about conflicts in life.
In some quaint, southern towns, the McKenna's would be considered wealthy. But in Lauren's mind, like most kids her age, her wealth is associated with the people she loves. Just because she has an elaborate, ancient roof over her head called Hailey Grove, and family ties dating back to the founding of her little town of Hailey Hollow, she's been clueless of her worth...up until now. She's just starting to connect with what is truly of value in her life. And speaking of value, how valuable would you find having a guardian angel actually speak to you? Just think of all the things they could help you live through. That's where Hailey comes in. Hailey is Lauren's guardian angel, sent directly to her from the highest order, the big cheese, the head of all the guardian angels; archangel Michael himself! Of course, I'm sure you find this impossible to believe...Lauren did too! It took Lauren a long time to finally trust herself, her angelic guidance and learn how to be happy, but it is possible...anything is possible...if you believe...
Lauren's family dates back to the mid 1800's in America. Before that, you'd have to search the wooded hillsides of Wiltshire, England.
Present day, Lauren lives in Hailey Hollow with her family. Her father, Tim McKenna, well Lauren thinks her daddy hung the moon, and he brings the stars down out of the sky every night for her to play with.
Her mommy, Beth McKenna, is really good at finding those stars and hiding them from Lauren or giving them to her little brother.
Oldest sister, Jana is Lauren's biggest fan, and big sister Holly is a quiet roommate who helps Lauren not be afraid of the dark. Both are loving and kind. You probably hear Wilby, their Boykin Spaniel. Wilby helps keep Lauren safe, and he just loves to lead her on his own little escapades. Of course, we couldn't forget the thorn in Lauren's side, Robbie, her bratty little brother. Although Lauren has been known to want to lock Robbie in a closet so he wouldn't be able to torment her, she wouldn't though, even if the opportunity presented itself, she's just too darn tender-hearted. Guess we better finish up our story, I think I just heard the clock strike nine times. that's always Lauren's bedtime...sounds like there's a storm headed to Hailey Hollow, too...
Nona rounds out Lauren's family. Nona is Lauren's grandmother, Tim's mom. Lauren and Nona are like two peas in a pod. Most of the time, they are inseparable, but sometimes life gives us bitter lemons. But that's okay, too, because Nona knows how to make it into lemonade...
Elise McKenna was Lauren's great-great grandmother. Sylvia Elise Maitland was her given name at birth. She was born in Wiltshire, England, daughter of a proud landowner and his wife. Elise was the middle child with an older brother named Robert and a much younger sister she adored, named Hailey. Elise loved writing and soon became a successful Playwright. Her stunning penmanship of the comedy “ Life Among The Stars” was a gallant hit on the London stage. This was a feat mostly unheard of for a young woman of her day.
